Faith In Business Part 1

Oct 09, 2023

Every business owner needs a lot of faith to run their business. Business owners should develop faith in business by believing these truths: 1. Believing God has called you to this. 2. Believing you can do what God has called you to. And 3. Believing God is able to accomplish what he has promised. Today’s blog will tackle the first truth.

First, you need to know that you know that God has called you to this business or venture. Don’t start something unless you have been led there. Many good things fail because they aren’t God things. We know that faith begins where the will of God is known. When you have trying times, and they will come, you can stand and fight only when you have a word from God. When I decided to expand our firm into another city, I stepped out in faith and found an office to lease. After signing the lease, I looked on the state board website for CPA’s. There was a rule that required one CPA per location.

Only, I didn’t have another CPA working for me. My plans seemed to go up in smoke. And since I already signed a lease, I could potentially have been out thousands of dollars. I had printed out the rule and underlined it. I prayed for a few days and still believed I was supposed to expand into that city. Several days later, I went back to the state board website. I could hardly believe what I saw. The rule had been changed. It stated that one CPA could oversee several locations as long as the oversight was up to our professional standards. God had come through and had been working on the change in the rule even before I signed the lease.

When you believe you have heard God, you should act. Not in foolishness, but with wisdom. Learn what is needed, scout out the land, then make plans to go and take the land! Faith without works is dead! James is very clear on this point. As you begin to move forward in His will, there will be challenges. Just like the rule for CPA’s, you may have obstacles that seem to knock you on your rear. Does that mean you missed God? No! These are sometimes the enemy, and sometimes they are just part of doing business. Life has challenges. That’s why you need faith! Faith towards God! Faith that knows your God and his voice. Faith that then says to the mountain “Get out of my way!”
