Faith In Business Part 2

Oct 16, 2023

This week’s blog is part two of the subject “Faith for Business.” To remind you if you’ve forgotten, or maybe haven’t read last week’s blog, I’ll repeat the introduction from the last blog. Every business owner needs a lot of faith to run their business. Business owners should develop faith in business by believing these truths: 1. Believing God has called you to this. 2. Believing you can do what God has called you to. And 3. Believing God is able to accomplish what he has promised.

This week I will discuss the importance of the second truth! You must believe that you can do what God has called you to. 2 Peter 1:3 says that God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. As it pertains to your life, you have been given what you need to succeed. God does not lead us into the wilderness to die. There may be some things you have to do, but God has released his favor, gifts, and love to you already.

Trust the process. You may be called to be in business, to be in the ministry, or both. That doesn’t mean you are ready to take on a senior executive role, or senior pastor role. The calling acts as an awakening or awareness of your purpose. But sometimes you need time between the calling and the fulfilment to develop. Like David in the Bible received the anointing for the kingdom while still caring for his father’s sheep, you may become aware of that call while in school or working faithfully for others. Don’t quit your job or make drastic changes. Look for the Holy Spirit to lead you to a mentor or direct you towards your next step. David didn’t stop caring for his dad’s sheep. There may be a time where you are asked to leave the nets (like Peter, James, and John), but that may be deep into your training, practice, and preparation.

Dr. Carol Dweck wrote a book called Mindset. The book discusses the differences between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. The mindset that believes that you can do what God has called you to is a growth mindset. It sees challenges as an opportunity to learn. The growth mindset says confidently “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!” and “If God is for me, who can be against me!” The growth mindset looks at the dead sea and sees a perfect place for a walkway! Daniel 11:32 says the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits!
